His story
From Yerevan to Lake Mary
From 2002 until 2006 Vard studied Armenian folk dance and ballet at the Yerevan State Dance College. During his time there he was awarded an Honors Diploma for winning the “Henri Mangasaryan Competition”, and he graduated from the college in 2006 — again with an Honors Diploma.
On graduating he was invited to join the Armenian National Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet as a Ballet Artist. With the company he performed abroad, in Dubai, Cairo, Alexandria and the UAE. Throughout his years at the Theater he continued his ballroom career and his dance education alongside it.
In 2008 he moved to the United States to further his ballroom career. From January 2009 until early January 2015 he worked at the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Hartsdale, New York, and in late January 2015 he moved to California to work as a professional instructor at the Fred Astaire Redondo Beach Dance Studio. In 2018 he moved to sunny Lake Mary, Florida.
